Welcome to the Smiling Horse Kitchen! It's all about the plant power peeps! Here, horses and humans are getting our nutrition from a plant-based diet. Vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, grains, legumes . . . it's all good! We're into a nutritarian approach - clean, colourful food that's easy to prepare and provides all of the necessary macro and micro-nutrients to keep us healthy and energized. If you are vegan, vegetarian, or just want to get more plant power into your diet, you'll find tips and ideas to help you discover how to have amazing, nutritious meals full of variety. This is not about award-winning, famous or exotic recipes or sweating over multiple steaming pots. Just common, nutritious foods that I find at the local grocery and tasty prep combos with as few ingredients as possible. I love easy cleanup! It's possible to eat well and economically in our busy lives, with a basic 'plantry' and handy menu ideas. I'm not a professional nutritionist, but I've been passionate about this for a long time, so will be including quick tips and factoids about nutrition and health that you can use as a jumping-off point for your own research in areas that are of interest to you.
