I have 'connected the dots' between awareness, movement, intuition and creativity to enhance the daily lives of people in my community.

Welcome to My Studio

Mixed media, intuition, expression, colour . . . bringing the ‘blank space of possibility’ to life!

Welcome to my 'happy place/creative space'!  When I'm not with the horses or out facilitating expressive art sessions, I'm here in my bright, cozy studio playing (not working!) on new creations.  I'm a mixed media fan and here you will find watercolour, gouache and acrylic paints along with all of the 'fixins' like gesso, gels, stencils, stamps . . . and LOTS of paper.  Crayons, markers, pencils, pastels - almost anything that will make a mark - and I'm adding new elements all the time!   I have appreciated textile and ceramic design all my life and have always loved patterns and colours from many traditions.  I particularly like those that portray the natural world and our relationship with it.  Whether it's a Moroccan tile, a Talavera pot, a Ukranian egg, an Indian Saree, a stained-glass Cathedral window or a Polynesian shirt and more - they are all beautiful!  I want to be surrounded by colour, design and natural inspirations, so you will find all of those in my work.

My muses are sunshine, sunsets, starry skies, plant life, water, air and earth.  I use all of my senses to take 'sensory snapshots' that I can transfer to the 'blank space of possibility', along with my favorite decorative designs, to create pictures that blend the wonders of natural light, colour and form, and traditional designs from around the world.  I am always aware that all human cultures have so much in common when it comes to the process of meaning-making and beautification in the design of our clothing, architecture and domestic tools.  It's in our nature to find some way to make an 'everyday' utilitarian object a thing of beauty - and also to honour the wonders of the natural world that give us shelter, food and a home.    I make my creations first for myself - because expressing in this way is an affirmative process that brings balance to my life.  That's why I share the amazing benefits of intuitive art with others.   And then . . . I put them 'out there' on offer to those who may feel the same way that I do when I look at them again and appreciate the colour and life they bring to the environment.  I work mostly on paper and with fabric and my process is all about colour, layering, texture and light.

Work in Progress

Right now, in between sessions with others, I am working on my own project, which is a ‘process-based’ quilt that has a natural fall theme. This is SUCH a fun process and I will be sharing it with clients in the future! Here are a few ‘pieces’ of this one that will end up being large enough for a double bed.
